Design statement

Fashion interests me because it is never only about clothes.

It is shaped by history and commerce, by politics and desire, by craft and technology, by the personal and the collective. I am interested in these intersections and in the tensions within them.

Through design, writing and research, I explore fashion as both a material practice and a cultural one. I question the stories we attach to clothes, the histories we choose to remember, and the meanings we give them as they move between people and places.

My work is an attempt to look at fashion closely enough to see what lies beyond it.

Research rarely arrives cleanly. It accumulates as scraps, screens, paint, fabric, photographs and half-resolved questions before it becomes a collection or an argument.
